Services
The Arc of Howard County provides services to people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities that are designed to respond to each person’s needs and desires, as well as to reflect and appreciate each person’s unique personality.
Committed to Person-Centered Supports
The Arc’s staff bring commitment, experience, and education to support and promote opportunities for people to achieve full community lives. Supports are provided for people with disabilities and their families under the following program areas:
Meaningful Day
The Arc's Meaningful Day services provide personalized, community-based support for adults with disabilities. These programs focus on skill-building, volunteer work, employment, and social engagement to foster independence, improve quality of life, and increase community inclusion.
Supportive Housing Services
Through person-centered planning, those we support develop living arrangements that meet their individual needs and desires and connections that enable them to become valued members of their community.
Project SEARCH
A one-year internship program for students with disabilities in their last year of high school and DDA and DORS eligible. Students in the program work with a team that includes their family, a special education teacher, and The Arc of Howard County in partnership with additional community organizations.
Behavioral Support Services
Behavioral Support Services (BSS) include a constellation of home and community based support services designed to assist individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) to thrive in their community of choice through early identification of potential problem behaviors, preventing escalation, and responding to behavioral emergencies and crises.
