The Arc of Howard County has been supporting the career choices of individuals with intellectual and development disabilities for over 20 years. The goal of The Arc’s Employment Program is to find a match where the work meets the individual’s needs, interests and skills and the individual meets the employer’s needs and expectations. The Arc’s staff provides support to both the employee and the employer throughout the relationship, from orientation and job training to on-the-job assistance. Individuals served by The Arc have become important members of the local workforce and have developed lasting friendships with their co-workers. Their success stories are as diverse as the places where they work.

Individuals in The Arc’s Employment Program are competent, trained, enthusiastic and loyal employees. Such employees increase company productivity and improve worker retention. They represent an untapped source of labor for local businesses.
